Webcomic - CIRCLE OF EYES

Here's something a little different from your pals at Subvert From Within Records. CIRCLE OF EYES is a webcomic I've been developing over the summer. Comic books were my first love as a kid. Before music, writing, or art, I was heavily into comics, and I've always wanted to write/draw a comic of my own. CIRCLE OF EYES is an homage to Heavy Metal magazine, 70's and 80's sci-fi/fantasy, and all the comic books I obsessed over as a kid. Moebius, Frank Miller, John Byrne, Bill Sienkiewicz, Matt Wagner, and John Romita, Jr. all served as inspiration in creating my own book. (Even though I don't have a fraction of their skill. Haha.)

The story is set in the late 22nd century. Political instability and disease have decimated the world population. The United States has been hit particularly hard and it's population has dwindled. Asian corporations have bought the remaining urban centers within America and sealed them within geodesic domes. Protected from disease, pollution, and crime within these cities, life continues with all the convenience and ease that technology can provide. Citizens are housed and cared for, while machines see to their every whim. However, the price for such a life of luxury is a police state that allows for zero dissent.

Outside these dome cities, the wilderness is lawless, but free. People live according to their own vision. Some live off of the discarded technology of the past. Repurposing computers, and bits of robotics for survival and profit. Some use violence as a means of survival. Others practice magick and the dark arts, manipulating the boundaries between science and the supernatural.

One such group is called the Circle of Eyes. They are an ancient group of witches, whose traditions go back a thousand years. They eschew technology and focus instead on refining their abilities in sorcery. They live in self-imposed exile within their labyrinthine complex, constantly searching for more mystic knowledge. Some who reside there, came seeking refuge from a world that offered only ignorance and brutishness. Others were born within the walls of their tower.

Our hero, a girl named Iris, has returned from Kaigara City where she has been living for over a year. She had wanted nothing more than to escape from the isolated world of the Circle, where she was born, and spend her life living "normally" in the city. However, when the telepathic connection she has always shared with her mother is abruptly severed, Iris knows that her mother is in danger. She must return home. Home to the CIRCLE OF EYES.

Or something like that. Download it. Listen to it. Look for Eula Mae at our Reverbnation page or on Facebook!

Summertime 2017: Back in the High Life!

It's summer and I'm on vacation! I finally have some time to devote to my personal projects now that I'm done working for the man for a while. I've been spending most of my free time with my various visual arts projects, and frankly, had kinda lost interest in my musical pursuits. However, in the last year or so, I've started to get a lot of online interest in my Eula Mae acoustic project, so I'm gonna release the thing, warts and all... Maybe someone, somewhere, will get some joy out of my weird little guitar songs. More to come soon... Big thanks to all the folks who have made contact, especially all my new friends in the Philippines who have been so supportive. It is appreciated!!! Y'er pal, Jabbo.
